MAACAMA RIDGE

This stunning site sits atop a ridge amidst the rolling foothills of the Mayacamas Mountain Range with sweeping views of the vineyards in the valleys below.

The owners of Red Car Winery requested a landscape that would anchor their home to the land, the agrarian context of the region, and the existing oak woodlands of the site. The structures create courtyards for outdoor living and provide opportunities for experiencing true connections to this setting. The locally sourced stone walls create a welcoming sense of arrival and define spatial frames while ancient olive, fig, and pistache trees create shade above outdoor living and dining spaces.

The pool and pool house are a focal point and provide a respite in the sun drenched landscape. Culinary plantings spill from raised steel planters in the entry courtyard while plantings of rosemary, dwarf olive, and grassland restoration envelop the site in a seamless composition.
